Ok, let it be said on the outset that I'm not a Singaporean. So I'm just going to make an observation rather than a comment, less I'll be accused of meddling in their internal affairs.

My observation is this: Wouldn't it be more appropriate to compare Singapore to Hong Kong, rather than Singapore to USA?
